Lot 22

1795 C-4 R3 Punctuated Date, Plain Edge F12. Attractive glossy light chocolate brown blending to medium chocolate in the protected areas. The surfaces are smooth and this half cent offers excellent eye appeal for the grade. The only notable marks are a tiny planchet fissure on the edge above the R in LIBERTY and the opposing rim just right of the denominator (as struck), a shallow planchet depression in the field left of the cap, and a small spot of reddish verdigris at the dentils before the chin. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with obvious swelling in the field before the portrait and strike weakness inside the wreath. The date is bold and the "comma" between the 1 & 7 is strong. Removed from an NGC slab graded F15 (NGC label #1638943-003 included, and it shows the attribution).
Estimated Value $500-UP.
