Lot 164

1799 S-189 R2 PCGS Genuine, VF Details, Environmental Damage. Sharpness at least VF20 but covered with roughness that varies from extremely faint over most of the planchet to moderate at the Y in LIBERTY. No verdigris and only a few notable marks. These include a dull dent at the bottom of the bust tip, a small rim bruise just right of the denominator, and a small dig at the bottom of the T in CENT. Recolored a rather glossy dark steel and olive brown. EDS, Breen state I. The date is strong and the legends are clear. Great detail for a date that is so difficult to find in higher grades. Our grade is VF20+ net VG10+. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
Ex Colonel Steven Ellsworth 11/2/2002-John Koebert.

Realized $4,465
