Lot 160

1798 S-178 R5+ Small 8, Style II Hair, Reverse of 1796 Fair-2. Slightly sharper, especially on the obverse, but the planchet is moderately corroded. There is a faint dusting of greenish verdigris in the protected areas but no marks or other distractions. Dark steel brown and olive. The date is clear and LIBERTY is weak but readable, and about 25% of the reverse devices are visible with some effort. The single leaves feature at the top of the wreath can be made out as well.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
