Lot 1408

1874-CC. PCGS graded AU-53. Nice light shades of gold toning. Only 21,198 struck, which makes this one of the more available issues of the prized 1870 to 1878 Carson City half eagles. This clearly must be understood in its context, as all of the 1870 to 1878 Carson City half eagles are rare. The 1874-CC is just a bit less rare! Only two or so are known that are considered Mint State today, both at the MS-62 level. AU coins are decidedly difficult to obtain and stand well to represent this issue. Notice the sharp strike and clean surfaces when examining this condition rarity, and make sure to bid high if you expect to bring this one home! Pop 7; 26 finer, 17 in 55, 7 in 58, 2 in 62. (PCGS # 8334) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.

Realized $9,518
