Lot 108

1793 S-14 R5- Liberty Cap F15. Sharpness VF35, perhaps even better on the reverse, but covered with uniform fine granularity on all but the highpoints, which are relatively smooth. No verdigris or pits, and the toning is an attractive and slightly glossy medium chocolate brown. The only marks are some very fine and barely visible hairline scratches in the obverse fields plus a single more visible vertical one in the field under the cap. The eye appeal remains decent in spite of the imperfect surfaces and the details are sharp. The edge lettering is bold. EDS, Breen state I. Removed from a SEGS slab graded XF40, "Light Ruffness" (SEGS label included).
Estimated Value $10,000-UP.
Ex Ron Cooper-Colonel Steven Ellsworth 1/25/2004-John Koebert.

Realized $10,575
