1803 Kettle Half Eagle Token in Brass Judd C-1803-3 Rarity-5 AU55. Plain edge. Made from dies that were very similar to the US $5 gold pieces of that day. Frosty golden tan. Just a touch of rub on the highest points from mint state. The only defect is a shallow test mark under the 0 in the date, probably to confirm it was not a gold piece. "KETTLE" shows in tiny raised letters near the dentils between the date and star 13. These were made by Kettle & Sons of Birmingham, England, as game tokens or counters and they are quite popular as collectible items today. Diameter 25.0 millimeters, same as the genuine 1803 half eagles struck in the US. Comes with some old, very fragile paperwork.
Estimated Value $100-UP.

Realized $588
