Lot 1418

1854. PCGS graded Proof 64. Lovely blue and rose toning on both sides and boldly struck on the eagle's wings and talons, features sometimes weak on this particular issue. Proof examples have a fragment of the 4 repunched between the 5 and 4 near the top, this mostly likely the right edge of the vertical serif. This is one of the tougher dates and mints to find from this series, and a splendid early Proof like this will bring considerable collector attention. It is believed that only 30 were struck in the Proof format. Pop 5; none finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6997) .
Estimated Value $18,000 - 19,000.

Realized $21,738
