Lot 1406

1799. B-16, BB-158, Rarity 2. NGC graded MS-62. Lovely light golden toning. A challenging grade to find in this series as there simply are not many mint state coins that survived. Here is an attractive example that offers a sharp strike, clean surfaces and ample eye appeal. Delicate toning features the devices well, and a loupe will reveal traces of die clashing above the date from the clouds on the reverse die striking the obverse without a planchet between them. At this lofty grade level, this condition rarity will likely be scooped up by an advanced type collector, or perhaps someone who just enjoys these large and impressive early silver dollars. Either way this is a coin that will be cherished and featured in a prominent spot in an advanced collection. Pop 2; 1 finer in 64 for the variety.
Estimated Value $27,000 - 30,000.

Realized $29,375
