Lot 1196

1857. NGC graded MS-67. Lovely rainbow toning of deep russet and blue surrounds the rims while the centers are brighter and more vibrant with luster. Close examination fails to note more than a few trivial luster grazes, and the fields and devices are of outstanding quality. Notice too the strength of the strike, which defines every nuance of the obverse and reverse designs, right down to the talons on the eagle. Incredible quality like this will always be sought-after, especially on early coins of this pre-Civil War era. Pop 18; 5 finer, 2 in 67 Star, 1 in 67+, 1 in 68, 1 in 68 Star.
Estimated Value $7,500 - 8,000.

Realized $7,638
