Lot 1083

1937-D. 3 Legs. PCGS graded MS-64. A nice strike, bright and attractive. The diagnostic missing foreleg on the bison is completely gone, literally from the die so no trace of it remains other than the hoof and shoulder. The rear leg was also lapped and has a moth eaten appearance on this popular mint blunder. Notice too the steam of raised die dots that extend beneath the bison's belly, this feature is also present on all known examples of the 3 Legs buffalo nickel. Tough to find this well preserved and worthy of an advanced collection. Pop 172; 67 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 3982) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $5,875
