Lot 171

1811 C-1 R7 (as a die state) AG3. Several points sharper with many small pits on the obverse, a dull dent on the rim below star 13, and a slightly bent planchet. No verdigris. Cleaned bright with dark steel and olive toning remaining in the protected areas. The date is strong and the legends are complete. Not the most attractive half cent to be sure, but it is in the extremely rare M-LDS, Manley state 4.0, with a bold cud break connecting stars 1 & 2 to the rim. About 7 examples are known with the 2-star cud break, and none of those is in high grade. This is the Missouri Cabinet example of the die state. A very significant die state for the specialist.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
