Peter I, the Great, 1689-1725, Chervonets (Ducat) 1711. Peter I, the Great, 1689-1725, Chervonets (Ducat) 1711. Moscow, Kadashevsky mint. GOLD. 3.40 gm. Bit 16 (R3), Diakov 345 (R4), GM 56.1 (RRR), Petrov (250 Rubl.), Sev 21 (RRRR). Imperial eagle on reverse holding four maps (charts), one in each of its beaks, one in each of its talons. This Excessively rare Ducat was struck following the capture of Azov. The four maps signify Russian sovereignty over the Baltic, White, Caspian and Black Seas. However, following Tsar Peter’s capture and the hastily concluded peace with Turkey on July 12, 1711, Azov was returned to the Sublime Porte. As a result, the mint recalled all of the Ducats. Very fine.
Estimated Value $75,000-UP.

Realized $128,700
