Reverse: ALIM ITAL in exergue, COS V S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC, Emperor standing facing, head left, extending hand towards boy and girl standing before him, extending their arms to him, and holding roll. Cf. RIC 93 (bust); Woytek 345f; BMC 378-80; Calicó 984. NGC graded VF; Strike: 5/5, Surface 5/5; Fine Style.

The alimenta was a public works program designed to provide for needy children through investments in agriculture by wealthy philanthropists.
