Sicily, Panormos. Punic Occupation. Silver Tetradrachm (16.4g), ca. 415-300 BC. Struck ca. 405-390/80 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving galloping quadriga left; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer with wreath; in exergue, Punic legend 'SYS'. Reverse: Female head right with rolled hair in ampyx, wearing triple-pendant earring; around, six dolphins, one dolphin appearing from below neck. Jenkins 15 (O4/R13); SNG Lloyd 1582 (same obv. die); Hess-Leu 1960, 103 (same rev. die); HGC 2, 1005. Very Rare. Uncleaned with uniform dark patination as found. Very Fine or better.
