Lot 59

1798 S-169 R3 Style II Hair with Small 8 NGC graded XF Details, Corroded. Rather glossy dark olive brown and chocolate with lighter chocolate brown toning on the devices. Uniform extremely fine roughness covers both sides but it is effectively hidden under the attractive toning. The only marks are a small spot of reddish verdigris over the right top of the U in UNITED and a thin nick under OF. M-LDS, Breen state IV, with bulges through the top of LIBERTY extending slightly beyond the Y. A decent if imperfect example of a variety that's difficult to find in high grade. Our grade is VF30 sharpness net F15. The attribution is noted on the NCS label.
Estimated Value $500-UP.

Realized $470
