Matisse, Henri. Tête de Femme. Linoleum cut, 9¼ x 12¼" (visible), matted to 14½ x 18". Initials H M and backwards date "38" at left. Matisse (1869-1954) often used printmaking to unwind after long periods of painting. He completed more than 800 intaglios, lithographs, woodcuts, linoleum cuts, and monotypes in his lifetime.
