Field, Cyrus W. and Cyrus H. McCormick. Field (1819-92) was an American financier noted for the success of the first transatlantic cable in 1858. Letter signed, 1p, 8 x 5", New York, Dec. 24, 1881. To Henry C. Bowen regarding information Bowen had provided about the railways between New York and Boston, and asking "who are the parties interested in the enterprise you speak of."

McCormick (1809-84) was an American inventor and founder of the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company, which became part of International Harvester Company. Check signed ("C.H. McCormick") on Importers & Traders' Bank, New York, June 22, 1869, for $22.60 for passage to Chicago. Small paper loss at top blank edge, else both items fine.
