Lot 207

Miniature Sefer Torah. Eastern Europe, c. 1850. Script easily readable thoughout. A very sweet piece, very light, weighing slightly one (1) pound. Due to its small size and light weight the "portable Sefer Torah" would have been carried by a religious Jew in Europe during his travels and was most likely commissioned for that purpose. The ktav (script) is uniform and the work of a single scribe, hence preserved in its original form. Bet Joseph Ashkenazi Script; columns measure: 4 13/16", in height; Etzei Hayyim (wooden rollers) measure: 14", in height;with a 40 x 18", brown felt protective wrap; some minor repairs and re-lettering needed to make this Torah pristine. Overall in fine condition.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
