Lot 191

Begin, Menachem (1913-1992) Israeli politician, founder of Likud, sixth Prime Minister of the State of Israel and 1978 Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Typed letter signed ("M. Begin"), on Knesset (Israeli parliament) letterhead, 1p, in Hebrew, 8¼ x 5¾, Israel, Mar. 1, 1977 March 1, with postmarked envelope. As a member of the Knesset, Begin writes to Baruch Taubkin mourning the loss of a fellow "Fighter for Zion": "I hereby confirm receiving your letter from January 30th 1977. I am sorry for my late reply, which was caused by a workload in these special days, and also a severe case of the flu that has come upon me during a short visit overseas. Pardon me. It was with great sorrow that I read the saddening news about the death of Fighter Yakutiel Dobrovich, RIP. The good things that you wrote, Mr. Taubkin, are a testimony of this Hebrew regiment man's important national activities. I hereby thank you again for writing to me and telling me about the virtues of this Fighter for Zion." Fine.
Estimated Value $800 - 900.
