Lot 708

1817 N-6 R1. NGC graded MS-65 Brown. Frosty greenish steel brown and light olive. Sharply struck and quite attractive. There are no marks visible without the aid of a strong glass, and a thin planchet void on the C in CENT can help identify this cent. EDS. The dentils are sharply defined around both sides, the fields are hard and slightly reflective, and the repunching on the left foot of the N in ONE is bold. A beautiful cent, what legendary cent collector C. Douglas Smith called a "Greenie" due to the attractive greenish steel brown toning. Noyes photo #35637. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. And it comes with an impressive provenance. Population 2; none finer at NGC.
Estimated Value $1,250-UP.
