Lot 1286

1879. PCGS graded Proof 64+ Cameo. A fully white cameo proof with a hint of gold tone around the edges. While 1,100 Proof Morgans were officially recorded as having been struck, Breen believes that the Mint only produced 750 pieces and then melted 100 of those in 1880. Regardless the true figures, this is an originally delicately toned near-Gem that is replete with mirror sparkle and depth. The devices give cameo accents in a typical (and commendable) two-tone appearance of well made Morgan Silver Dollars struck in the first few years. Pop 4; 25 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 87314) .
Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,300.

Realized $5,640
