Edison, Thomas (1847-1931) American inventor whose innovative work in electricity and communication laid the foundation for the modern technical age. Check signed as president of the Edison Botonic Research Corporation, 8½ x 3 in., West Orange, N.J., June 20, 1924. Drawn on the Savings Investment & Trust Company of East Orange and paid to WH. Hand for forty dollars. Fine; signed with Edison's usual beautiful signature. William Henry Handy was a member of Edison's personal research team and the developer of numerous inventions, including a type of plastic for phonograph records that eliminated background noises.
