Wilhelm II (1859-1941) King of Prussia; last German Emperor; forced to abdicate in 1918. He was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's first grandchild. Partly-printed document signed "Wilhelm R" as King and Emperor, one page, 8 x 12¾ in., Wilhelmshaven, Dec. 19, 1917. Awarding a Pour le Mérite or Blue Max (Blauer Max) to Captain Max Valentiner, a U-boat Commandant. The Blue Max was Imperial Germany's highest decoration for valor. After Wilhelm's abdication, ending the Prussian monarchy, the military class of the Pour le Mérite was no longer awarded. Very good condition; some fold wear and faint dampstaining. The signature is enormous and most of the red wax seal is present. Matted and framed to an overall size of 19½ x 22½ in. Estimated Value $300 - 400
