Charles X (1757-1836) King of France. Younger brother of Louis XVI and Louis XVIII; uncle to Louis XVII and last Bourbon King of France. He ruled from 1824-1830, ending with the July Revolution of 1830 and the election of Louis Philippe, Duke of Orleans, as King. Charles lived in exile until his death. Partly-printed document signed "Charles" as King, vellum, 20½ x 16¾ in., Saint Cloud, Sept. 20, 1825. Naming the Sieur Piedecocq an Officer of the Legion of Honor. Countersigned by Marshal Macdonald.
