1966 Texas Sniper Newspaper. August 2, 1966 issue of The Austin American signed by patrolman Ramiro Martinez, who put the first shot into engineering student and former U.S. Marine and sharpshooter Charles Whitman, who killed 17 people and wounded 32 others before being killed. The headline reads: "Sniper in U.T. Tower 'Fortress' Shot After 90 Minutes of Terror." After Martinez shot Whitman, two shots from patrolman Houston McCoy finished Whitman off. Martinez signed across his photo in the newspaper. Estimated Value $150 - 200
