[Saddam Hussein] Christofle Bowl From the Presidential Palace in Tikrit. Silverplated bowl, approximately 14 in. across and 8½ in. high with lid, engraved "Christofle France" under the lip of the bowl with hallmarks on each side. The front of the bowl has a 5/8 in. wide by 1 in. high engraving of the coat of arms of Iraq made up of the Eagle of Saladin bearing a shield of the Iraqi flag, and holding a scroll below with the Arabic words "Jumhuriyat Al-`Iraq" or "Republic of Iraq". This is the coat of arms that was used from 1965 to 1991, having three vertical stars on the shield (the design was modified in January 1991).

This bowl was "emancipated" from Saddam Hussein's palace in Tikrit by a member of the 1st Marines during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Christofle sells similar bowls (without the Iraqi coat of arms) for $2,000-$3,000.

The sales commission received from this item will be donated to K9s For Warriors, a non-profit group that provides and trains service dogs for American warriors with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury; 95% of the dogs come from rescue shelters. Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500

Realized $2,640
