Key, Francis Scott (1789-1873) Maryland lawyer, most famous for writing the poem "Defence of Fort McHenry" during the War of 1812 which became the lyrics to "The Star Spangled Banner." Autograph financial document signed in the text, 8 x 1¾ in., n.p., n.d. "Francis S. Key hath this day paid to the said Issac Robbins the said purchased money in full amounting to the sum of three thousand eight hundred and fourteen dollars and nineteen cents."
