Egyptian Sarcophagus Cover Fragment, XXVI Dynasty During the Saite period (670-525 BC), 10¼ x 33½ in., made of cedar from Lebanon and covered with gesso, then handpainted with Egyptian figures and hieroglyphics. Visible figures are Anubus, Horus, and Isis. Housed in a 17½ x 40 x 3 in. case. Ex a collector in New Orleans who purchased it in Egypt in the early 1950s while working for an oil company; Gary Hendershott Museum Consultants; Claude Harkins.
