Joseph R. Areno (1950-2006) was born in Montreal and studied in schools and studios in Montreal, Paris, New York and Santa Barbara. He is known for figurative life drawing and painting, portraiture, landscape and cityscapes. He worked in oil, charcoal, pastel, and watercolor. His work reflects daily life and experiences, much of it in Santa Barbara.
