Holiday, Billie (1915-1959) American jazz singer and songwriter, considered one of the best jazz vocalists of all time; her nickname was "Lady Day." Head-and-shoulders photo inscribed and signed in gold ink, "For Archie Moore / Stay Happy Always / Billie Holiday," 8 x 9 in. One small nick to photo paper at lower right, not affecting the inscription or signature. The gold ink seems faint far away but is easily read at arm's length or closer. Archie Moore (1916-98) was a professional boxer who was Light Heavyweight World Champion (1952-1962). He set the record for knockouts in a career and was the only boxer to fight both Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali. A wonderful memento from one legend to another.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500
