Deke Slayton’s Haley Space Flight Award., Every 2 years The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) presents this award for outstanding contributions by an astronaut or flight test personnel to the advancement of the art, science or technology and astronautics. In January 1978 Slayton, Stafford and Brand won the award for their ASTP mission. The medal is heavy and has 2.5" diameter. The back is inscribed with the names of the 3 recipients and January 17, 1978. A yellow and two tone blue ribbon is attached so the medal can be worn.
