Lot 179

Edison, Thomas (1847-1931) American inventor and businessman; one of the most prolific inventors in history. Autograph note signed ("Edison"), 8 x 11 in., on his cheap "penny tablet" paper with customary browning (uneven) and slight paper loss at edges. The content, however, is great. Despite the inventor's tin ear, he insisted on selecting much of the music to be recorded, to the chagrin of his associates, but in this directive to "Moore" (Sherwood T. Moore, his record production man), the tables are turned as he says, "Boys have a tune & record in which voice is double all the way through/it's awful. They have found another mould of same tune & print is perfect, not an echo."
Estimated Value $400 - 600
