Andronicus I Comnenus, 1183-1185. Electrum Aspron Trachy (4.28g). The Virgin orans, nimbate facing on dais and wearing pallium and maphorium; on Her breast, nimbate head of the infant Christ facing; on either side of Virgin's nimbus. Reverse: Christ, bearded with crossed nimbus and Andronicus standing facing; Christ wears pallium and collobium, holding Book of Gospels and crowns the Emperor. DO 2a; Sear 1984. Unusually choice for this issue. Extremely Fine. Rare.
