Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. Gold Stater (8.5g). minted at Amphipolis (?), ca. 280-270 BC. Head right of Athena wearing necklace and crested Corinthian helmet adorned with a coiled serpent. Reverse: Nike standing left holding a wreath and stylis; M monogram above crescent in outer left field; reversed ΣI monogram below right wing; MO monogram in wreath below left. Price 609. Minute reverse edge mark, somewhat tight flan. Nearly Extremely Fine.
