Oil City, PA - Oil City Bank, $5 Sept. 15, 1864. PCGS Very Fine 20. The American Bank Note Co. produced these attractive green and black notes. The scarce vignette near top center is known as "News From Home" by artist Felix O.C. Darley. A square portrait of George Washington appears at lower right. The signatures remain bold. The back includes ornate designs printed in green ink. The short-lived bank operated in the mid-1860s. Several small slits that may have served as cancellation marks are visible when the note is candled.
Estimated Value $150 - 200.
