Lot 197

1793 S-10 R4 Wreath Cent Clipped Planchet Fair-2. Vine & Bars Edge. The obverse is better while the reverse is weaker, and both sides are moderately rough from corrosion and planchet striations. However the color is a decent and slightly glossy chocolate brown. There are a half dozen small spots of greenish olive verdigris on the obverse and a few minor scratches hidden in the toning on both sides. Not perfect, of course, but the date is readable (although the 3 is weak). MDS with the usual die flaw at the dentils before the mouth. A curved planchet clip reaches into the field left of the lower curls and the opposing rim at D-ST. A scruffy cent but a rare type of mint error for a 1793.
Estimated Value $300-UP.

Realized $460
