1851-O. NGC graded AU-55. A nice untoned example. Some luster graces the evenly toned surface of this attractive O-mint Eagle. A blend of light to medium gold graces both sides with here and there reddish accents, most notable by the 13th star. The strike is somewhat better on the reverse, while only the stars lack sharpness on the obverse. Breen variety B-6898 in which there appears a hollow ring atop the second shield stripe, apparently from a center punch on the reverse die hub, and seen on a fair number of specimens of this, and several other dates in the Liberty Eagle series (PCGS # 8607) .
