1807 C-1 R1 VF30. Chatter Strike Obverse with Pre-striking Foldover Planchet Lamination on Reverse. Attractive glossy chocolate and steel brown with lighter brown mixed in on the reverse. Flowline luster covers the fields and protected areas, especially on the obverse. LDS, Manley state 3.0. The entire date and the left side of the portrait display sharp, clear doubling from die bounce. In addition, there is an obvious foldover in the planchet affecting the dentils over the E in UNITED. This planchet defect occurred before the planchet was struck since is shows the dentils. It appears the foldover came as a result of a strong nick or dig on the rim that occurred before the coin was struck, and the depression it left behind is still visible on the edge. A very odd mint error.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
