Lot 152

1804 C-12 R2 Crosslet 4 with Stemless Wreath F15+. Struck on a Stage I Planchet (Rims not Upset). Glossy olive brown and chocolate. Smooth and attractive, just worn. No corrosion or verdigris and only minor marks, including a shallow nick-like planchet chip above the I in AMERICA. MDS. Struck on a planchet that did not have the rims properly upset (raised) prior to striking. This resulted in wide, flat rims giving the piece the look of a "broadstrike." This effect is sometimes seen on half cents of 1804-1806, but not often.
Estimated Value $100-UP.

Realized $127
