Cantor, Eddie (1892-1964) Born Edward Israel Iskowitz. American comedian who began his career in vaudeville and burlesque, including the Ziegfeld Follies (1917-19). He performed in musical comedies and films, on the radio (1931-39) and on television (1950-53). Archive of eleven Typed Letters Signed from Cantor to famed columnist Walter Winchell (1897-72), nine on Cantor's personal letterhead, and all written between April 24, 1933 and Sept. 14, 1964. Although in poor health the last 20 years of his life, Cantor continued working for numerous charitable organizations and periodicially sent Winchell brief letters, thank you's and updates on himself and the various non-profit organiations with which he was involved, including the Boy's Camp and the Jewish Theatricak Guild of America. Winchell penned a holograph note on one of the letters. Accompanied by two 8 x 10" photos (by Otto Rothschild) of Cantor, Winchell, and Red Skelton with press blurbs on verso. Overall fine condition.
