Texas Republic Bond for $500. "Certificate of Stock in the ten per cent consolidated fund" signed by J. W. Simmons as Comptroller and Charles De Morse as Stock Commissioner, 7¾ x 10", Feb. 5, 1840. Produced by the Southern Bank Note Co. of New Orleans, the attractive, engraved bond has vignettes of a classical female figure embraced by an eagle and a reclining figure of Mercury with a period sailor, as well as a star. Filled out in ink; ten interest stubs at bottom; a few triangular cancellation holes.
