1793 S-11c R3- Wreath Cent with Lettered Edge. NGC graded AU-50. Variety with a single leaf following DOLLAR. Glossy chocolate brown mixed with some slightly lighter brown toning from a very light cleaning. No corrosion or verdigris. There are a few of the usual tiny planchet fissures on the obverse. These tiny fissures are located in the field before the neck, on the neck, and hidden in the hair to the left of the neck. None of these fissures is distracting and there are certainly fewer of them than normal for this variety. The only notable contact marks are a pair of nicks over ON in ONE and another under the first A in AMERICA. E-MDS, Breen state II. Clear die clashmarks show in the field before the neck. Our grade is EF40 net VF35 for the light cleaning. The edge lettering is not visible in the slab, but the S-11c variety designation is noted on the NGC label.
