1793 S-9 R2 Wreath Cent VG10. Vine & Bars Edge. Clipped Planchet. A couple points sharper with a pair of dull, very old scratches through the lowest lock of hair left of the date, a few faint scratches in the fields at the top of the obverse, and a rim nick under the tip of the bust. The planchet is decent but not perfectly smooth in the fields and protected areas, and there are patches of very thin reddish scale nestled around some of the devices. Rather glossy steel brown and chocolate. The date and legends are complete and easily readable. Struck on a planchet with a minor mint-made clip left of the lower curls and over ST in STATES. Traces of the vertical bars of the Vine & Bars edge device are lightly impressed into the shallow clip, but the deepest part of the clip is missing the edge device. Decent but unremarkable as a Wreath Cent, but examples with a clipped planchet are extremely rare.
