1857 Breen-2 Proof-Only. NGC graded Proof 65 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Variety with Doubled T in CENT. Choice bluish steel with 20% of both sides showing original mint color. Virtually flawless, free of any stains, spots, or signs of contact. The only marks, and they are barely visible under strong magnification, are some tiny planchet flakes in the field before the face, as struck. The fields are hard and reflective, although the mirrors on these proof-only strikes are not especially deep. A premium example. Our grade is Proof-64. The attribution is noted on the NGC label.
