Lot 387

1652 Massachusetts Oak Tree Sixpence Noe-16 Rarity-5 PCGS Genuine. Frosty light silvery gray fading to medium gray in some of the protected areas. Most likely lightly cleaned. Has the details of a VF30 example, but it was struck 5-10% off center to K-6 leaving some of the legends off the planchet. The notable marks are some fine hairline scratches at the lower right of the oak tree and a rather deep planchet void at the rim that obliterates the upper part of EW in NEW. The date, VI denomination, and oak tree are all sharply struck and clear. The fine die cracks under LAND that always come on this die combination are visible. Type with "IN" on the reverse.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.

Realized $2,760
