C. Antius C.f. Restio, moneyer. AR Serrated Denarius minted at Rome, 47 BC. Head right of C. Antius Restio. Reverse: Hercules walking right, holding trophy and club. Antia 1; Cr. 455/1a; Syd. 970. Delicately toned and an exceptional example. Superb Extremely Fine.
This well-chosen denarius is very scarce in such an exalted condition. The portrait is not of the moneyer, but of a forefather who had elevated himself to the status of tribune.
