Lot 1434

1879-CC. NGC graded MS-64. Housed in a Black GSA Holder. Scarce. It has been often said that the 1880-CC, 1881-CC and 1885-CC all have lower mintage, yet the 1879-CC is much the rarest CC-mint Morgan Dollar struck from 1878 to 1885. This fact aside, market offerings for examples that grade up to and including MS64 bring out many bidders. Gems are very expensive which makes a near gem like this MS64 a worthy compromise. This splendid CC-mint Morgan is swathed in thick, rich, frosted white luster. Both sides show as brilliant at all angles, with magnificent delicate silvery tinting that seems to be present to confirm the coin's originality. Admirably sharp in strike, with exceptional smooth-looking surfaces for an 1879 CC-mint silver dollar. Nearly gem! Pop 66; 6 finer in 65 (PCGS # 7086) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 8,000.

Realized $11,213
