Lot 1339

1901-S. NGC graded VG-8. Popular key date. This is the preeminent for the Barber Quarter series and, with a mintage of 72,664 pieces, only the 1913-S has a lower total at 40,000. However, this is somewhat deceptive since the 1901-S is the rarer of the two key issues, by far, and much more infrequently seen in circulated conditions. Mint State examples appear at irregular intervals and it is noteworthy when a specimen at any level of Mint State appears.
Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,000.
Ex: Dr. Charles Ruby Collection.

Realized $8,683
