Fr. 268, $5 1896 Silver Certificate, "Educational Note", Almost Uncirculated. The most popular of the "Educational Note" series, this design includes the allegorical group showing Electricity as the dominate force in the world. However, after certain members of the public realized that Electricity was showing a bit too much skin, the design was promptly changed to appease the prudish members of American society. Soon, these same moral guardians would be put to task again, when the bare-breasted 1916/7 quarters appear. Great margins and corners on this note, with bright colors and highly appealing.
