Lot 7

1818 N-6 R1 MS63. Very attractive and highly lustrous bluish steel brown and chocolate with 10% of the mint color remaining on the obverse. The only marks are a trio of small parallel nicks on the end of the chin and a tiny diagonal nick off the left end of the line below CENT. LDS with dull but strong parallel die lines (possibly from a lap stone applied to the die) behind ICA in AMERICA and the reverse dentils weakened or missing altogether. Doubling from die bounce shows on the tip of the nose, on the jaw near the throat, and boldly along the bottom edge of the bust. Called MS63 choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20952. Bland says MS63 and tied for CC#1 as well. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS64BN (PCGS label included, and it shows the attribution and Naftzger provenance). Now housed in a PCGS MS64 BN holder. (PCGS # 36616).
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
